AIGA stands for the "American Institute of Graphic Arts." Though it is not an institute anymore, AIGA currently has 63 chapters nationwide and is still going full throttle today. For those of you wondering, AIGA is a professional association for design. The website says "AIGA, the professional association for design, stimulates thinking about design, demonstrates the value of design and empowers the success of designers at each stage of their careers. AIGA’s mission is to advance designing as a professional craft, strategic tool and vital cultural force. Founded in 1914, AIGA remains the oldest and largest professional membership organization for design, and is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) educational institution."
We're very excited to finally have a student chapter on campus and I am very excited to be the president. I have so many ideas in my inspiration notebook and can't wait to implement them around campus! In lieu of naming it AIGA-Stritch we wanted to come up with a fantastic, innovative name. We chose "CMYK". Yes, it's obviously a printing term, but on another end we chose words to describe each letter.

Communication.
Motivation.
Youth.
Knowledge.
For one of our goals, we said we wanted to raise design awareness around the Stritch community. Let's face it... nobody likes to sit through design lectures. So we thought we'd do some "guerilla marketing" but instead of selling people things we are guerilla "educating" the masses of Stritch. All of the members came up with some really awesome posters and I'm so excited to run around and hang them up! This is the one I came up with that will be going on our bulletin board.
